Animal Birth Control Programme is the most known and tested method to keep the population of neighbourhood dogs under control. If wholeheartedly implemented, ABC programme can curb the number of dogs in an area; reduce the number of dog bites and eventually eradicate rabies. The whole idea takes a back seat when the dogs are eliminated in the garb of sterilisation, a rampant scenario in various cities across the country. Ideally, we visualise having a stabilised dog population, but the efforts of all stakeholders must be regulated to achieve what is desired.
