Animal Welfare Board of India representatives raided a circus company camping at Malur on Wednesday and secured a number of animals in to their custody. The animals secured by the authorities included horses, dogs, monkeys and Emu birds.
A team of officials of the Board led by senior officer Sunil Agarwal carried out the operation following expiry of the licence of the Kerala-based Rajkamal Circus.
“The Board officials submitted a request in this connection on the grounds that the circus was running the shows without renewal of the licence. I passed an order on Tuesday to conduct the raid,” Deputy Commissioner K.V. Thrilokchandra told The Hindu .
