Coimbatore’s Irugur panchayat to sterilize 2,000 dogs

COIMBATORE: After the alleged poisoning of 46 street dogs in Pattinampudhur in the district, the Irugur town panchayat has passed an order for an animal birth control project on Wednesday.

They also said that with more than 2,000 stray dogs reported in the panchayat, the measures are being taken to control the dog menace.

“Last week, we had received information that 46 dogs were poisoned in Pattinampudhur. And some evidences and sources proved that these dogs were poisoned by people in the Irugur town panchayat. So we approached the panchayat officials,” said Kalpana Vasudevan of People for Animal, Coimbatore unit II.
