Private Agency Given Rs 1 Lakh Contract To Control Cat Menace On Karnataka Governor’s Residence

The residence of Governor of Karnataka is not only being flocked by people, birds, and politicians but also many cats which have now become out of control. In December it was reported that the Governor of Karnataka, Vajubhai Vala, wanted all the cats to be taken off the premises ever since they became a nuisance for their family.

The horticulture department which manages the governor’s house tasked the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) department to fix the problem but they were struggling to find a solution. A senior official from BBMP had told TOI that they only have expertise in catching dogs but no cats.

There were around 30 cats prowling the Governor’s residence. Almost four months after it was not able to figure out a solution on its own, the civic agency has now outsourced this task to a private agency for almost Rs one lakh.

The agency is expected to put 30 cats into bags. Raj Bhavan sources had revealed that the cats would often steal upon the governor’s family members when they walked their pet dogs on the premises. They also annoy VIP visitors who had a hard time shooing them away.
