Respite for thirsty animals and birds in Jaipur
As the temperature in Jaipur touches 47 degrees, the Water Bowl Project is a mission to quench the thirst of animals and birds. It is an initiative of placing water bowls all over the city to help thirsty beings who have no water to drink, unless it is made available to them.
On Sunday morning, members of the Jaipur Federation of Animal Protection Organisations (JFAPO) initiated this act of love and kindness towards animals, which otherwise perish just because of dehydration. With the support of Kishan Nagar Vikas Samiti, JFAPO placed over 100 water bowls - of different sizes for both animals and birds - all over the colony, which will now be regularly cleaned and filled up by its compassionate residents.
Distribution points have been set up all over the city, with helpline numbers available for citizens of Jaipur to come forward and take this initiative to their neighbourhoods.
Varda Mehrotra, FIAPO, said, ‘As the temperature rises, more than anything else that our animal friends need is water. Places where they could always find water are disappearing. The heat is making sure there is not a drop left anywhere.’
She added, ‘Our members have been putting bowls in various locations, and we want animals all over Jaipur to get some respite from the heat. Waterbowls are available from us for free, and all people need to do to save lives is fill them with water. It’s as simple as that. Phone us on any of our helpline numbers, and save a life today.’
